Financial Support
Financial Support is Provided to Families of Fallen Police Officers, Firefighters and Paramedics
While money can never replace the loss of a loved one, funds can be extremely helpful in easing the financial burden associated with the tragic event.
That is why when tragedy strikes in Cook County, the 100 Club of Chicago - the civilian organization that provides for the families of fallen police officers, firefighters and paramedics - immediately responds with financial support to help lessen the devastating effects.
First 24 Hours
Usually within the first 24 hours following a loss of life in the line-of-duty, the 100 Club of Chicago:
- Presents an initial check for $15,000 to help cover the family’s immediate financial needs.
Within Two Weeks
Within two weeks of a loss of life, the 100 Club of Chicago:
- Meets with the family a second time to completely review the family’s debts, including mortgages, leases, car loans, credit card and department store debt, and medical and utility bills.
- Upon review of the family’s debts, the Club pays an additional $50,000 to help pay-off the debt, including up to $30,000 against a real estate debt or mortgage.
- If a real estate debt remains due (following the $30,000 payment), the Club contacts the mortgage company or bank and attempts to arrange for the remaining balance to be re-written at the best possible rate of interest.
- In cases involving rental property, the Club pays up to three years rent.
- The family is advised of future finacial assistance for post-secondary education.
